Hello, this is the first in a four-part series on the head and neck and how we balance the weight of the head by distributing effort through the rest of our structure.
From a Feldenkraisian perspective, building awareness in our self-image, this lesson is about how to use movement in the pelvis and spine to lift and lower the head, not allowing the neck muscles to be isolated into patterns of tension.
Finding the tiny details in the motion of nodding the head can help us feel into the work of the upper spine, back and shoulders. Areas which, habitually, are difficult to release.
Please enjoy this short Awareness Through Movement lesson in The Feldenkrais Method, a practice which helps you feel safer in the body.
I’m sharing these lessons every Friday here on Substack. The audio is taken from my Somatic Audio Service on WhatsApp - ten minutes a day of grounding movement.
If you get to the end of the lesson and hear me say, “I’ll be back on Monday”, well that’s where I’ll be. You’re welcome to join us over there.
