Reaching through the shoulder

Remembering how the ribs get involved

Hello, this is the third in a four-part series on releasing tension in the shoulders - something we need to do regularly to keep our neck in check.

It’s especially good for all of us who are sitting typing all day with our shoulders hoiked up to our ears.

With gentle movement we explore mobility in the shoulder joint and ribs, to find ease in our daily reaching and lifting tasks. You’ll need a mat on the floor, some cushions to support your head, and blanket to stay cosy.

Please enjoy this short Awareness Through Movement lesson in The Feldenkrais Method, a practice which helps you feel safer in the body.

I’m sharing these lessons every Friday here on Substack. The audio is taken from my Somatic Audio Service on WhatsApp - ten minutes a day of grounding movement.

If you get to the end of the lesson and hear me say, “I’ll be back on Monday”, well that’s where I’ll be. You’re welcome to join us over there.
